Meet Our Team

Dr. Dan Hoyt
Dr. Dan Hoyt graduated from Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York cum laude. He then moved to San Diego and from there moved to Portland Oregon to go to Western States Chiropractic College and graduated in 1988 cum laude. Dr. Hoyt then opened a physical therapy and chiropractic clinic in 1989 until his son was growing up without him.

He felt that watching his son was more important than his own clinic. He then went on to help people in other ways. “We are glad to be helping people here in New Mexico. Dr. Rachael Haverporth
Dr. Rachael Haverporth was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She moved to New Mexico in 2003, and she has been living in Alamogordo since 2012. Dr. Haverporth graduated from New Mexico State University with a bachelor degree in Kinesiology in 2009. After graduation from NMSU, she attended the University of Texas at El Paso, and received a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2012. She has been working as a licensed Physical Therapist for Back in Action Therapy since 2013.

Dr. Haverporth specializes in McKenzie and Hesch therapy techniques. McKenzie is a method that focuses on patient education and self-care to treat the spine and extremities by using specific repeated movements and prevention measures. Hesch is a method design to help patients learn how to align their hips and pelvis with easy, non-painful techniques. Dr. Haverporth has experience working with pediatrics, vestibular, neuro, and cardio patients.

Dr. Scott Nufer
Dr. Scott Nufer is originally from Columbus, Ohio. He went to Brigham Young University, where he majored in Exercise Science and minored in Ballroom Dance. Partway through his undergraduate education, he took 2 years off for a full-time mission for the LDS church to Florianopolis, Brazil. He attended Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions for his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. His clinical internships included a 6-week term at Provo Rehab and Nursing in Utah, and a year-long outpatient term at Benchmark Physical Therapy in Oakwood and Commerce, Georgia. He moved to Alamogordo in December 2016.

Scott loves working with shoulders and knees, as he has had to treat these areas in himself throughout an active sports life. He is also certified in dry needling (Cert. DN) from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy. Scott is a happy husband, and father of 3 beautiful little girls.

Dr. Matthew Hoyt
Dr.Matthew Hoyt graduated with his clinical doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) in 2016 from the University of New Mexico. He has worked in a variety of physical therapy settings over the past several years that has allowed him to work with all population types including pediatrics, geriatrics, and everyone in between. Matthew grew up in Alamogordo, and is very proud to be able to help the community. Matthew currently lives in Las Cruces with his wife, and two Italian Greyhounds. He enjoys exercising and watching sports during his time away from the clinic.

Marinelli “Nelli” Rivera
Nelli graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. She moved to the United States to work as a traveling physical therapist in 2016 and is currently working towards her doctorate degree at the University of Montana, with plans on graduating in December of 2018.

Nelli has always had a passion for manual therapy, and enjoys working with the elderly and children using functional exercises. Her clinical interests include neck pain, back pain, tension headaches, neurological conditions, balance deficits, fall prevention and pediatric developmental delay. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, traveling and sometimes hiking.
